The Bandits CAWL registration process is designed to both collect important information from you, as well as impart important information to you in order to develop common expectations.
The process takes approximately 10 minutes to complete.
Before you begin, if you have not purchased a USAW Athlete Card since August 31, 2017, then we require that you go to USAW Membership and purchase the card, then return to complete the registration form. When purchasing the card, identify "Bandits Wrestling Club" Org ID 1800034002 as your club. The cheaper "VA Folkstyle Card" will work for most competitions in our schedule. However, some states, like NJ, don't recognize it. We recommend purchasing the "Full Membership" card which is valid in all states and at Greco-Roman (GR) and Freestyle (FS) events in the Spring/Summer.
The Bandits CAWL program is advanced, has high team competition goals and takes their achievement seriously, is comprised of multiple CAWL, State and National level Champions and placers whose developmental needs must be met, and significant commitment is expected by all members and their parents.
The Bandits CAWL program supports dual CAWL/NVWF participation. However, members are expected to make CAWL program practices/competitions their primary developmental vehicle, and NVWF practices/competitions a supplemental vehicle. When conflicts arise, national level events take precedence over CAWL events, and CAWL events take precedence over NVWF events, including the NVWF Championship Tournament.
Wrestlers are expected to practice four times per week somewhere (highly recommended all practices with Bandits CAWL), but must practice a minimum of two times per week with Bandits CAWL. JV wrestlers are encouraged to practice with Bandits CAWL, however, may meet their entire practice requirement at their High School.
Wrestlers are expected to participate in every CAWL event. Starting line-ups are not determined until immediately prior to (sometimes during) the dual. A goal is to win each/every CAWL dual and earn the CAWL Dual Championship. Coaches will attempt to get non-starters an equitable number of exhibition matches. Parents share responsibility for attainment of the a CAWL program goal to qualify every member for the CAWL Championship Tournament (e.g. minimum of 3 x CAWL dual weigh-ins, and 7 x CAWL starts/exhibition matches).
The culminating events of the season are the VAWA Individual State Championships, VAWA Dual State Championships, and CAWL Championship Tournament. Winning these events are team goals. Every Bandits CAWL wrestler is expected to compete in these events as a Bandit.
You must first register and pay $160 on the NVWF website.
Wrestlers are required to wear headgear at all practices and competitions.
Wrestlers are required to wear a mouth piece at all practices and competitions. Wrestlers with braces must wear a mouth piece conforming to NFHS specifications.
Parents/wrestlers are expected to do everything possible to prevent the contraction and spread of skin diseases. Practice and competition clothing must be washed before being re-worn. Wrestlers must bathe immediately after practices/competitions using anti-bacterial soap/shampoo. Parents are expected to daily check their wrestlers for evidence of skin disease. In event of a skin condition, parents are expected to immediately start appropriate treatment, report the incident to the coach, schedule a doctor's visit, have the doctor complete the NFHS Skin Lesion Medical Release Form (found on our website), and withhold their wrestler from practice/competition as prescribed in the MRF.
Wrestlers are required to keep a copy of the completed NFHS Skin Lesion MRF in his wrestling bag until the skin condition is resolved.
Parents are expected to read the NFHS Parent's Guide to Concussion and are highly encouraged to complete the on-line training course identified in that document.
